This post might confuse some people but, this is something I’ve been wanting to write about but, i always forget it until now. Before i continue, i will like to wish you a happy and successful new week and also, i want to use this opportunity to let you know that i will be turning 25 by this Wednesday which is 18th and, I’m very happy for that. 18th September is my birthday and, i will do a little celebration so, you all are invited to come and celebrate with me :).
So, lets get to the main discussion of today. There has been this popular word or phrase called GOOD LUCK, have you heard that word before? I bet you have :). Again, how many times have you told someone that succeeded in something that…… MAN, YOU’RE VERY LUCKY INDEED? I will like you to answer that on the comment section below and as for me, i can’t remember because, I’ve said that a countless number of times.
This same word comes in many languages. Indians pronounces it as SAUBHAGYA, i don’t know if that’s correct but, I’m sure my Indian friends will tell me :).
Good Luck in Other Languages
French: Bonne chance !
Dutch: Succes! Veel geluk!
German: Viel Glück! Alles Gute!
Latin: Bona fortuna!
etc
Now, i don’t know if those are correct but, correct me if i made a mistake anywhere. So, my question again is…… Does good luck really exist and if yes, does it also apply to blogging?
I know that many people will come up with different answers to this but, in my own opinion, there is a thing as good luck in anything we’re doing but, it all depends. When a man labours under the sun day in and day out and finally, became successful, will you say that he is lucky? Yes, you can call that but, it comes with his hard works. If he has been sitting at one place all day then, would he has become that successful? You might say, why am i asking lots of questions in today’s post but, that’s how it is :).

One can only be lucky when you goes out of his comfort zone and start working hard and then, luck will become the end result of his efforts. You cannot be sitting and sleeping in your house and, expect luck to happen to you which is why they said that……
God created all birds but, he never throw their foods into their nests….. They have to work to get it,
Have you heard of that before? God created all of us to be extra-ordinary successful but, we all have to work our way towards achieving that else, you die of poverty… period.
This word GOOD LUCK always confuse some people but, the truth is that in anything in life, luck will not come to you if you don’t work for it.As a blogger, if you fail to do what you’re supposed to do then, you will not be a successful blogger. If you’ve created your blog and you don’t update and promote it then, it will remain like that. God cannot come and do it for you.
So, what the hell is still holding you? In order to be also addressed as a success, you have to pave way for it, get to work now man. I’ve also heard a quote that says that…..
Things can come to those that wait but, its only the ones left by those who struggles.
Sometime ago, i read a very interesting book named: The Richest Man In Babylon written by George S. Clason and, there was something he said on that book and, I’ve never forgotten it since the past 5 years i read it It says that….
Men of Action are Favoured by the Goddess of Good Luck…
What do you gave to say to that? Do you agree or not? To me, its so true. Good luck is only meant for action takers and now, you need to ask yourself….. Are you really one of the action takers? You alone have an answer to that. If you also want to read the book, let me know on the comment section and, i will email you the soft copy. Maybe, that is what i will give you on my Birthday :).
“If a man be lucky, there is no foretelling the possible
extent of his good fortune. Pitch him into the Euphrates
and like as not he will swim out with a pearl in his
hand.”
—Babylonian proverb
Ahead of you stretches your future, like a road leading into the distance. Along that road are ambitions you wish to accomplish . . . desires you wish to gratify. To bring your ambitions and desires to fulfilment, you must be willing to put in your best and work hard for it.
So finally, stop thinking that the only reason why someone succeeds is because he is lucky while you’re not, you will only be deceiving yourself so, you need to wake up from that your day dream now and start facing the realities of life. Pat Flynn started blogging since 2008 and since then, he has been working tirelessly so, why won’t he succeed? Same as Spencer Haws and many others.
Therefore, stop complaining and start working now for a better tomorrow, so that you will also be called a lucky man tomorrow :).
Thanks all and, i will be expecting your gifts on my birthday (Wednesday) :).
Please, lets continue the discussion on the comment section and, remember to tweet and share this post with your friends.

Hi Theodore,
Wishing you a very Happy Birthday, well in advance before I forget to wish you, which I won’t – but nevertheless 🙂
Coming to the post, yes some people tend to think that those who are lucky get all the fame, money, and success in life. But they don’t realize that it takes a lot of hard work and effort to do that – Rome wasn’t built in a day, it took time and patience. You are right – you need to put in all your best efforts to succeed in anything, whether it’s blogging or any other business. There might be a few exceptional cases where people are born with a silver spoon in their mouth and they achieve everything without doing anything, but those are rare exceptions I’d say.
Personally I think each one of us is lucky to be alive, to have so much to be thankful for, isn’t it? Luck shouldn’t be measured with the amount of money you have or how successful you are, because you are lucky person just to be alive, kicking, have your senses and body parts – in-fact you are lucky because you have so much as compared to so many who don’t, isn’t it?
Nevertheless, hard work pays in the end, and if you aren’t lucky now as you compare yourself to others, keep striving and you too shall get lucky. 🙂
Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week ahead 🙂
Theodore Nwangene says
Hi Harleena,
Those are also many areas to consider when talking about luck and, they really count too, not just about the financial aspect of it alone. Yea, Rome wasn’t built in a day of cause and, just as you said, there are also many cases whereby one can inherit wealth or win the lottery but in all, hard work is also required. Thanks for coming my lovely friend and, have a fabulous weekend :).
Thanks for the wishes 🙂

Theodore, I so agree you need to be ready for good luck and to be ready you have to work at it. Luck doesn’t just appear at many doors and thedoors have to be open right? I’m still working it and waiting for luck to find me 🙂
Happy upcomin birthday Theodore – hope you have a great week full of good luck.
Theodore Nwangene says
Thanks Lisa,
I really appreciate your visit today and, i agree with your awesome opinion and, you will definitely meet your own luck :). Thanks for the wishes too 🙂

Hi Theodore,
Happy birthday!
haha i know it’s not the right place or the right time to be arguing about examples lol, (“the god created all of us with no food example”).
i would say it like this : “it’s not the luckiest of the bloggers that succeeds, it is the one that is the most adaptable to change. ”
there’s a 100 plus factors that turns a website into success, and they are constantly changing , (depending on panda, penguin, the fashion , new technology, etc … )
if you don’t adapt to the changing internet and people’s mindset you won’t make it,
so i guess luck probably would help you for the short run, but for the long run, how long you think you’re luck gonna last ???
Happy birthday again, Many thanks and Best wishes!
Theodore Nwangene says
Thanks Mitch,
Yea, change is very constant and, if you fail to see and adapt to it sooner then, you will certainly fail therefore, i also agree with your own lovely opinion. Thanks for the kind wishes too.

Hi Theodore,
First of all let me wish you a Happy Birthday for Wednesday. I hope you have a great 25th B-day.
As for having luck to get to success, I think it all comes down to working hard and sure there may be a little bit of luck involved.
But if you don’t get up and take the necessary action to get the results you want, then chances are you will never reach your goals.
I think if you work hard towards your goals…eventually you will experience the results you desire, maybe with a little luck it will happen sooner than you anticipated. Have a great week.
Theodore Nwangene says
Thanks for the wishes Susan,
I also agree with you, for you to be lucky, you have to first of all take care of all the necessary tasks before you. Thanks for coming friend
Gagan Masoun says
If we will provide different thing to the people then definitely we will get success. Founders of Google, Yahoo, MSN are so lucky. Because today they are making a lot of money. If you will concentrate on blogging, success will touch your feet.
Theodore Nwangene says
You’re very right Gagan,
Everything boils down to working hard first before expecting any luck. Thanks for coming.
Asaolu olubayode says
To start with Theo,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY IN ADVANCE…. A great man once said something that “When preparation meets opportunity, then People say you are lucky”. Honestly, without adequate preparation for the task ahead someone can never get there. And the fact that some are making it and you called them lucky being does”t stop you from working more harder to break your own ground. I realize that many people leave what they are suppose to do and keep analyzing people that they called “Lucky” in which they get frustrated when they couldn’t unraveled the module of their success. i will advice most of the newbies who are just coming in to blogosphere, that if you are not passionate about blogging it’s better you quit, because you only get prepared for the opportunity coming ahead before you’re called Lucky being.
Theodore Nwangene, We need to rub minds…. are you on bbm? connect me on facebook then we know what to do.
Theodore Nwangene says
Thanks Asaolu,
I very much agree with that quote……When preparation meets opportunity, then People say you are lucky….. I can’t agree more. You’ve said it all brother and, i agree with all your points. Thanks for the visit.
Nop, I’m not on BBM but, i uses whatsapp….. you can add me via 08069042613 if you’re on whatsapp

Hey Theodore
Happy Birthday for tomorrow!
I agree with most people who have commented. Without some effort, it’s unlikely you’ll succeed in your endeavours but put in the time and you’re more likely to be lucky!
Theodore Nwangene says
Thanks Tim,
The birthday went pretty well indeed, thank God. I also agree with all the commenters, luck will always come as a result of your efforts. Thanks for coming man
Ashley says
Hey Theodore
first off happy birthday. We have not met before I think, but I am sure you will have a great day.
To your post: I do believe we have to work hard to get many of the things we want in life, but luck does play a role. Some people work hard and do not achieve the same success as their neighbour despite that. Sometimes things just happen with a bit more luck for some people. I have had a few accidents in my life and always come out healthy, and that is luck a lot of the time too. However, despite all my talk of luck I do believe in working hard for your goals and as Lisa says you have to open the doors for luck to come in.
cheers
ashley
Theodore Nwangene says
Welcome to my blog Ashley,
Of cause, we’ve not met before and, I’m happy to have you here indeed. You really have to work for luck to find you, you can’t just fold your hand and stay one place and it will trace you there, that’s not how it comes and, i also agree with Lisa’s point.
Thanks for coming man and, the birthday really went well 🙂
Adrienne says
Happy Birthday Theodore! Guess I’m glad I stopped by this post on your special day although your day is probably already over. Sorry for my lateness in getting by here then.
I really don’t believe in luck! I think that everything we do in life is already planned. We may have no clue what ten minutes from now will hold but luck has absolutely nothing to do with it. I think it has to do with your belief system and like you stated here a strong work ethic.
I worked for a guy for seven years and the CFO of the company use to get so mad at him. My boss would always seems to get deals we felt he shouldn’t and he wasn’t always honest in getting them either. So the CFO use to say “man, he’s so darn lucky”. I always use to think, “he’s not lucky at all”. Just because business deals fall into his lap didn’t mean he was happy or successful. He was one of the most miserable men I knew but he tried so hard to hide it. He had major health problems and his marriage was a joke. His kids didn’t respect him either. You can be a millionaire or have a successful business but that doesn’t mean you’re happy. Nope, luck has nothing to do with it. That man knew what he wanted and he went after it with all the conviction in the world. He believed in himself and would stop at nothing to get what he wanted. Luck had nothing to do with it at all.
That’s just my take on it so have a fabulous rest of your week and sure hope you enjoyed your special day.
~Adrienne
Theodore Nwangene says
Hi Adrienne,
I agree with your points too. Being lucky can mean many things indeed, not just the financial aspect of life alone but also, the healthy part of it. There is also a thing called luck but, it always come as a result of your own efforts.
Thanks a lot for stopping by Adrienne and, have a lovely weekend 🙂
Debasmita says
Hey Theodore…
“Luck” is the word we often use…we wish someone Good Luck when they are going to do something important…we call successful people lucky…and apparently it really seems that some people are damn lucky who achieve their goal without much effort!!!
But I believe there is no shortcut to success…Why then the topper in our class dint get a job when her not-so-good-in-studies best friend made through it???
Well that too has a reason apart from luck…the topper girl lacked communication skill… which are best friend was good at!!! So here again comes the ‘hard work’. Had she worked hard on improving her communication skills she could have spared herself from being called an ‘UNLUCKY’ girl!!
Men of Action are indeed favoured by the Goddess of Good Luck…
And I totally agree that even in blogging its the hard work and the smart ways you adopt that makes you lucky…
A great topic and you have conveyed a wonderful message through this post!!
Theodore Nwangene says
Hi Dabasmita,
You’ve said it all indeed. That same issue usually border me too. You will see someone who is very brilliant in a class even more brilliant than others yet, at the end of their school days, the other people will be succeeding in life more than him. This is because he still have some other skills to acquire as you said of cause.
Thanks a lot for this awesome comment of your dear and, thanks for the visit too :),

Thanks Theodore for this post. I believe in working out your own miracles; try as much as you can to do your own part of the deal, your quest for success in blogging or any other career lies largely with you, therefore, you understand your own portion and get down to do it heartily, only then shall the forces that be come to your aid.
Theodore Nwangene says
You’re right Bless,
For you to be lucky, you will have to play your own parts first by working hard, thats the only way you will become lucky. Thanks a lot for coming dear and, have a great weekend.
Okto says
Well, happy birthday my friend.
I don’t really understand about luck in blogging. But in general luck will take small amount of parts in one success. That’s mean if we want to bring success into our blog we should not count on luck. Do the work harder than any other blogger then success will be yours.
Great post!
Theodore Nwangene says
Hi Okto,
I can’t agree more. If you really want to be lucky more than every other blogger then, you will also need to do the work more than every other blogger. Interesting point man :), thanks for coming.

i believe goodluck is only for the hardworking people and not the lazy ones. When you fail to play your own part, goodluck does not come your way.

I believe that luck matters in blogging as it matters in other fields. But at the same time luck favours those who work hard….
Samir says
Well I totally believe that everything depends on hard work, how much you’ve achieved or wanna achieve anything you need to work hard and the success is yours.
Theodore Nwangene says
Thanks Samir,
I also agree with your points. With hard work, you can achieve anything you want to achieve. Thanks for coming.
