After about two years of being a blogger, I have just recently known my niche. I bet you are surprised. Well, in the last two years I have not been blogging frequently, that is, I have been in and out of blogging. I guess you would want to know the reason, isn’t it?
Simple, I didn’t know my niche! And these literally caused a major blow in my writing skills which also affected the number of clicks on my blog and of course I was nowhere to be found on Google or Alexa PR… And stuffs related to being an Authority blogger.
We all know Linda Ikeji, don’t we? At least, some of you will, especially folks in Nigeria. Linda Ikeji stands as one of my many mentors and I have been following are closely in this past few months, but like a fool, I resolved on starting the exact thing she is into (more like an imposter), by changing the tagline of my blog in “Sam Adeyinka’s Blog”. Well, you know where stories like that end… Don’t you?

So let’s talk about knowing your niche……
As a newbie, you probably will be wondering what the word “Niche” means. I will disclose this to you in this article and it would be my greatest joy to see your two cent comments when you are done reading this masterpiece.
So what is a Niche?
Niche is defined by the Urban Dictionary as a position or activity that particularly suits somebody’s talents and personality or that somebody can make his or her own. Well, in my own term I define it simply as “uniqueness.”
See, from what I have garnered over the years, the 6.7Billion people on planet earth are created distinctively to serve different purpose which therefore means every one of us is original. I bet you don’t want to be an imposter!
Another word for niche, if you would ask me, is purpose. Generally speaking, your niche should be something you enjoy. Something you can’t go a day without talking about with your friends and families. In fact, your niche is your trademark
“Find what you most enjoy and you will never work a day”.
Why is it useful?
Niche is a very important element in the aspect of blogging. For instance, if in life you don’t know and understand your purpose, that is, the reason why you are here and the reason why you do what you do, it would be very hard for you to amount to anything in life. Like that, if you don’t know and understand your niche, that is, the area of your influence, it will be very difficult to be a successful blogger. So knowing your kind of niche is worthwhile as it helps you in understanding how to achieve your goals. It helps you to be focus.
“Far better it is to be known as one thing than to be known as the ‘whatever’ person”. – Sam Adeyinka
How to know your Niche
Before you start thinking of owning a blog you’ve got to first of all brainstorm and write down what your blog is about, your target audience, the mode in which you will reach and educate them and a host of other things, are what you must put into consideration.
At this point, you should get a sheet of paper because I will be asking you some questions, which I’d love for you to scribble down and answer when you are through reading this article.
What are you passionate (enjoy) about?
What arouse you?
What motivates you?
What wakes you in the middle of the night?
What is that thing you know a lot about?
Try and identify the answers to these questions, they are your niche. And when you’re sure you have found your niche, be sure to know what you’re talking about because it will soon bring food to your table.

This people and many more authority bloggers enjoy blogging today as a result of knowing and understanding their various Niches. Niche involves being known for one thing. It is impossible to blog about everything. Truth is I have never seen a man who is good at everything. There is an adage that says “He who doesn’t stand for one thing will definitely fall for everything”.
Conclusively, finding your niche is not all that there is but pursuing it is what matters. Pursuing involves researching your topics and writing catchy titles & quality contents that will trigger attention. Also be sure to direct all your energies towards the working out of your blog’s niche and I bet the end result will be an endless success.
