I’m sure you must have heard before that “the shortest biro is better than the longest word” but, do you truly understand the actual meaning of it and do you agree? For me, I’ve heard it more than a thousand times and I know it’s true. I decided to use the longest memory instead of the longest word here because of what I want to discuss about but, the both words are still same.
Have you ever been in a situation whereby you’re walking on the road or even driving and suddenly, some ideas started coming into your mind about what you can use to form a blog post? It could be because of what you saw on the road or even what you heard.
These always occur to me from time to time in fact, that was how the idea of this particular post you’re reading right now came about.
I was watching a movie where some men are in a meeting and at a point, one of them suggested that they get a writing material and start writing down what they are discussing so that they will not forget it later and, that was when another man among them mentioned that…….
“The Shortest Biro is Always better than the Longest word”
However, this is not the only time I’ve heard that word being mentioned but, it never sounded as if it could make a good blog post until last night. So, have you ever experienced such a thing before and, what exactly do that man meant by that word? I guess you understand the meaning but in case you don’t, let me explain a little as to why I’m writing this post on that title.

You know, the moment you become acquainted with blogging and writing, you will never be experiencing that popular problem that every new blogger usually experience called…. “Writers Block” because, lots of ideas will be coming to your mind all the time and, if you’re not creative enough, you will never realize it.
I remembered when I read one of Robert Kiyosaki’s books “Rich Dad Poor Dad”, He mentioned that being a graduate is not enough for you to become wealthy but, you must become financial intelligent or financial literate for you to acquire wealth.
He also pointed out that, once you become financial intelligent, you will be spotting lots of money making opportunities from everywhere. When you come to where people have passed before, you will always see an opportunity through which you can make money even when the others didn’t see it.
How Does This Apply To Blogging?
Yes, I know you will be wondering on that but, I want to let you know that it’s also the same thing with blogging. If you want to become a great blogger or writer, you must learn to possess blogging intelligence or blogging literacy that way, you will become one.
You will always be seeing and hearing things that you can use to write an awesome blog posts. Are you surprised yet? You don’t need to be because; I still have more to tell you.
Ask most of the successful bloggers and writers out there today and, they will tell you that they don’t always carry out research before they can come up with a mind blowing blog post but, the ideas always come when and where they least expect it. That is the same thing with me. I no longer research before I can write my posts because, once I open my word document, the idea will start and continue pouring until I finish :), isn’t that what every blogger want?
But, the thing is that if you’ve not built up your blogging intelligence yet, those ideas will still be coming but, you will not be able to notice it whenever it arrives.
What Should You Do With These Ideas When They Come?
Some months ago, I was reading an article written by Ana Hoffman of trafficgenerationcafe.com and she mentioned something that I really like and, it’s related to what I’m writing about here. I would have given you a link to the post but, I couldn’t locate it because, it has been long I read it.
Talking of what to do with those ideas whenever they come, she said that she has a small basket in her office that she keeps them.
What she does it that, whenever an idea of what could make a good post comes to her mind, she will always write it in a small piece of paper, fold it and throw it inside the small basket then, whenever she want to write, she will just reach out to the basket and randomly select any of the folded papers and then, write a post on the topic written there. Isn’t that awesome?
Now, that is part of what to do. Another thing is to always ensure that you have a writing material with you whenever you’re going out In case an idea pops up in your mind. As for me, I have an app on my smart phone that I always use to write it down once it comes. Evernote can also do that for you.
The main thing is to make sure you have somewhere you write down the ideas whenever they comes. This is how the title of this post came about. If the idea comes in and you fail to jot it down thinking that you will remember it whenever you need it then, you will be making a huge mistake because, you will definitely forget it.

But if you form the habit of writing down the ideas as they come then, it will always be there at your disposal when you want to make use of it. Can you now see why I said that “The shortest biro is better than the longest memory”? This is because, the memory can easily forget but once written down; it will always remain there unless you lost the note.
How To Build Up Your Blogging Literacy!
I just want to touch on this one a little but, I will still write a full comprehensive post on it.
It will only take lots of your time and effort to become blogging literate. There are many ways to go about this but, lets me tell you a little.
If you really want to develop your blogging and writing literacy then, you have to start reading and practicing. The more you read and write, the more you will become good at it and, that’s how it goes.
I hope you enjoyed this post so far. If you are not building up your blogging and writing skill yet, I advice you start doing so now before you lose your blog.
I’m sure you will have some question for me or, an opinion based on this post so; let’s further the conversation via the comment section. And remember, sharing is caring so please, tweet and share this post with your loved ones too. HAPPY NEW WEEK AND WELCOME TO DECEMBER:)

Hi Theodore,
I agree with you completely on this one 🙂
The more you read and the more you write, the better you become, and this is a well-known, tried and tested fact. I’m glad you wrote about it here today. Blogging IS writing, and I truly wonder how people fall short of ideas or go through the so called ‘Writers Block’!! I’ve yet to find a day when I have not written, or when I fell short of post ideas.
I liked Ana’s suggestion, though my paper basket would be full in no time this way…lol… I usually have a small note pad on my Desktop where I just file up what comes to mind so that it’s all there alphabetically. I don’t keep this list too long, and write about what comes to mind depending on how much I am inspired to write about it. As you know, because I have a multi-niche blog, many a times what I want to write about – that particular niche has already been written on, so I save that idea for the coming month, and go with another one.
I like to give my readers all the possible information I can gather, so I do a little bit of research for that and add my own two cents to it of course. I guess I’d not like them to waste time hunting about the same matter elsewhere 🙂 Yes, if it’s a general post, it all comes flowing out, but I like to go into finer details, or stats, and researches, which does need time and effort to write a post.
I think what matters at the end of the day is that each one should make a sincere effort to write in the best possible way so that it helps the readers. And never fall short of ideas – find your own ways to store them up. You can never fall short of inspiration when you are online, reading posts, visiting other blogs, and just being around each others blogs – try it!
Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week, and a lovely new month ahead as well 🙂

Hahaha Harleena,
If your basket will be filled with ideas then, it will be great :). Though, using notepad is also a good alternative as i also makes use of it sometimes. Yea, there are still some posts that i will have to do some research before writing but, not all the time.
I also wonders why people normally complain of writers block but, its not their fault though as we all have passed through that at one point or the other, don’t you think?
So, when it comes to writing, i believe that repeatation is the key. We get better the more we write.
Thanks for coming Harleena and, sorry for the later reply.

Hi Theodore,
Well written! I don’t write my ideas on a piece of paper … I use EverNote instead 🙂 Lovely with both mobile and desktop version. Haha!
Until date, I had maybe hundreds of different ideas to write about~ Just need more time 😀
Thanks for sharing mate.

Hi Theodore and happy new month as you continue blogging.
Great idea added into my mind. Most of the time I do find myself getting ideas on what to write about. But sincerely speaking I rarely do I write posts about all this.
Theodore Nwangene says
Great to have you back Mark,
I’m happy you learnt something from my post. I think you have to start writing down your ideas as they come and, remember to always make use of them when writing a blog post.
Thanks for the support.

Great post Theodore,
i totally agreed with you when you mentioned that the more we read, the more we become better in writing. And that’s just the secret. Another thing is that i noticed that most of my blog posts that are written out of inspiration ranked even more than researched ones. Most times we don’t have to research to write, when writing is part of you, ideas are made easy. Thanks for the wonderful post bro. Happy New Month.
Theodore Nwangene says
Thats the case sometimes Asaolu,
I also writes better without research than when i start conducting some research and, thats because I’ve gotten used to writing. Yes, the more we read, the more you learn and the more we also improve on our writing skill.
Thanks for coming.

A frank post I must remark. Improving blogging literacy means improving the art and act of reading and writing. A blogger can only become better with continuous writing.
The idea of the shortest biro better than the longest memory readily sank in from the examples expounded in this post. Thanks for sharing this piece, Theodore!

Dear Theo,
I 100% agree with you because it happens to me most time, especially this period of my blogging adventure.
Most of the post that I have done flashes my memory and I dont wait till I get home to pen it down, what I do is just lunch my mobile ms word and type down the tips there. Then when I’m relaxed I can now broaden the idea.
Fresh ideas comes to our mind every time, so when we fail to pen down ideas, we might end up loosing them for life.
Thanks for the nice article,
Philip
